There is also a Letts Y3 word level book with some basic ideas. It's yellow and about £4 I think.

It has three differentiated activities for each word level target. It's not great for everyday use and can't stand alone for the entire year but it's def. worth dipping into, even if you just blow up the pages as a teaching aid.

There is also Clicker. It's an IT programme which progresses at their rate. They work through it at their own pace. Although I found it a little complicated to set up.

The follow on from the PIPS is the Grammar for writing publication. This starts off with Y3 work though may be too tricky at the moment. It's also 'sentence level' rather than 'word level' but still has some good ideas.

Many of the PIPS games can be adapted for more difficult words so def. worth a look.

Alliteration poetry can also be good. Not only can it be used to reinforce initial sounds but can show them how different letter blends make the same sound. At this time of year you could get them to re write 12 days of Christmas using alliteration. eg six soggy cigars

Homophone snap is also good for this. They can make the cards themselves. Especially good for vowel diagraphs eg rain, rein, reign.

I have checked this out with the SENCO and there was a typo on the IEP. The target is for year 1/2 works

I have got a book of 'pecs' like pictures and the SEN departemnt are going to help me put together w/s for these kids. Heaven help the poor little buggers.
