We have 3 polo shirts, and 2 jumpers. Depends a bit on if they're going to have school dinners or packed lunches, and how neat they are with baked beans/gravy! We have 3 pairs of trousers, but tbh only need 2.

Dd has 2 jumpers, 4 polo shirts (came in a pack), 2 skirts and a pair of trousers. Ds1 has two jumpers this year, and tbh, it does make things a bit easier on the washing front! HTH.

legacy · 24/11/2005 16:27

2 jumpers
3 pr trousers
4 polo shirts

Kayleigh · 24/11/2005 16:29

Ds2 is in reception. He has two jumpers, three white shirts (why oh why his school can't do polo shirts i'll never know)and three pairs of trousers. Most nights I take his jumper off and if he has got the odd mark or two on it I just give it a good scrup with a wipe and hey presto perfect for next day !!

PrettyCandles · 24/11/2005 16:34

Two shorts, two trousers (one in the next size)
Four shirts
Two sweatshirts

The bizarre thing is that ds is generally very clean, and usually wears clothes several times without them needing cleaning, but, although I've only had to wash his trousers once so far this term, and haven't had to wash his shorts at all, we're forever runnign out of shirts. God knows what it is he gets on the back of them! And for that matter - how?!

nikcola · 24/11/2005 16:35

so far i have a skirt,2 polo shirts and a pair of trousers as friend got them from work shop for cheap for me ,

so i think ill have to buy 2 more polos, 2 cardigans and a jumper that come to £40 is that normal !

Lotbags has 5 pairs of red trousers, non uniform ones, i got mine from Hennes, the school ones are gross and the pockets never stay tucked in!.
She bum shuffles still though so needs more trousers than most.
Then she has 3 regulation tops and 2 regulation jumpers.

motherinferior · 24/11/2005 16:39

Sorry, honey, don't know - DD1's school doesn't wear uniform.

WigWamBam · 24/11/2005 16:39

My dd has six polo shirts, two cardigans, one school sweatshirt at hugely inflated price, one jumper, four skirts, two pairs of trousers and two pinafore dresses.

Adams have buy one, get one half price on their school stuff at the moment, and places like Tesco sell uniform at very good prices - there's no need to spend a fortune.

tortoiseshell · 24/11/2005 16:40

At ds' school, the only 'school' item is the jumper, the rest is just generic trousers/polo shirts - we got the polo shirts in M&S for £2 each, and the trousers were £5, which might ease the bill a little!

nikcola · 24/11/2005 16:47

yeh i think ill but 3 more plin polos from adams or somewhere like that and just buy 2 school cardis and 1 jumper x

Gobbledigook · 24/11/2005 16:49

Ds1 has:

2 pairs of trousers
2 jumpers (school ones)
4 white shirts
2 ties (school ones obviously!

This is more than enough. His stuff really doesn't get that dirty - he's had the same pair of trousers and same jumper on all week so far. Change his shirt every day though.

littlerach · 24/11/2005 16:51

We have 2 pinafores and 2 skirts.
1 cardie and 1 sweatshirt.
2 school polo shiorts and 2 plain ones.

LIZS · 24/11/2005 16:52

We have 2 - one bought new, one second ahnd sale - 5 poloneck tops, 3 tunics (again only 1 was new) as last average of 2 days each. Does she really need cardis and a jumper ? Only the boys wear jumpers at ours. I'd buy the minimum and add as necessary when she starts.

nikcola · 24/11/2005 16:55

yes i supose she only need cardis not jumper aswell x

My dd has 1 jumper, 2 cardigans, 2 skirts and 4 polo shirts (shes a very messy eater). Cost me about £35 altogether, my advice is to shop around the local highstreet/supermarkets rather than proper uniform suppliers as it's much cheaper. For example the cardigans were only £6 in Peacocks, the skirts were £4.50 each in Woolworths.
If your finding cost is an issue then it might be worth contacting Citizens Advice and they can tell you if your local council offers uniform grants and if they do whether you'd qualify for one.

nikcola · 24/11/2005 17:05

does anyone know if you get help with uniform if your on income support ????

OP posts:
Enid · 24/11/2005 17:07

we have 2 sweatshirts and about 6 polo shirts (could have less but am lazy)
2 skirts

LIZS · 24/11/2005 17:08

nikcola, probably depends on your council/LEA, like meals and milk.

mookie · 24/11/2005 17:09

hehe i only half typed the sentance in brackets, it was meant to say she's a very messy eater I have to wash cardies every day.

I go to Woolies where they have a three for two offer and I get:

2 pairs of trousers
3 packs of 2 polo-shirts (still got one unopened pack!)
and a pack of 8 pairs of socks (I think it was 8!)

That way I get the socks and one pack of polo-shirts free.

Two school jumpers from the school as well.

mrsdil · 24/11/2005 18:13

My ds has
2 polo shirts
2 Jumpers
3 trousers

I wash his uniform everyday so just have a wash and wear
