I did the old Sec mods (which were the dumping ground part of the grammar school syste.m)
It was an inner town school in North Lincolnshire
A newly qualified young lady teacher was taking a middle range class of boys.
She hadher problems. But she was supported by a headmaster who dished out brutal canings. (It was the only thing he knew)
In those days I dont think anyone was expected to get very far having had a Sec Mod education....They were lower income job fodder.
We got our morning small bottle of milk Some kids really needed it. (Thatcher snatched it later)
I enjoyed my previous stint at junior school much more. Teacher reading Black Beuty late on friday afternoon was the highlight of the week.
A speel at a village school had a Head who used to leave early on Wed to see a film in the city. He would tell us about it the next day.
A lot of water has passed under the school bridge since. then You are all going to tell me education has improved. Hope your right.
