time for a whinge. Dd's teacher took me aside today to inform me that dd was "failing" in class at the moment because she isn't doing her homework consistently. Dd is only 5! She's tired at the end of the day & frankly, so am I. Ds effectively keeps us hopping with his tantrums & demands. I think the teacher isn't doing her job if she thinks I'm responsible for dd learning to read. I'm willing to do revision of the day's lesson with her but not bloody teach her what she should have learned in that expensive private school. Extremely hacked off.

god -that's bloody awful! I can't believe they are putting so much pressure on her at 5.

Seems to me the teacher could have been more positive rather than sya she is failing.what do they have an exam at the end of term

Is it an educational hothouse school?

poor darling dd, baby einstein of my heart! she's in a private swiss french-speaking school but it isn't all it should be. Since we live in Switzerland and have done for many years, we thought the dc should be sent to a swiss school. However, the local "state" school is so bad that we decided to go private. very disappointed. There are 21 kids in her class and only 6 of them are girls.

She's not learning to read at the same rate as the rest of the class. She can read 2 or 3 letters together but not a whole word unless she can guess it. is it surprising when she has words like libellule (french for dragonfly) thrown at her?

What hope is there? my poor little dd. I might as well teach her from home, except my maths is crap.
