Dyslexia/Left Handed

My dd has a problem with getting to grips with certain spellings, such as thier/their, and also sometimes mirror writes, which she doesn't notice until someone says they can't read what she's written. She is left-handed, which I understand can cause mirror writing. However, she has decided she is dyslexic. (She's 16, btw)

I'm not sure what, if anything, to do about her self-diagnosis. She has just gained four 1's, four 2's and an A in Standard Grades and has no problems reading, with a sophisticated taste in books. I've had a look at a couple of dyslexia sites but they are very much geared towards the younger child. This could just be a 'fashion' thing going round the school but otoh, I don't want to ignore her in case there is a problem which is only showing up now. Any ideas, anyone, esp Mumsnetters who are themselves dyslexic and can recall when it became obvious?

I wouldnt worry about the 'ie' 'ei' spelling bit but I do know mirror writing is common of dyslexia. Sorry I dont know much about dyslexia - have you been on the dyslexia association site?

Thanks, Fio2. I think I'll just keep an eye on her for now and talk to her teachers at parents evening, see what they think.
