Just got the letter today to say that DD has got a place at the school we wanted her to go to from next September. There were only 18 places so, although we knew she had done well at her assessment interview last week, we were not 100% sure that she definitely had a place.

Feel lots of relief that school is now sorted out

Thanks to those who reassured me over what the assessment interview might be like too.

Oh, and a big well done to my little girl from her mummy

Great news! Well done to dd!

LIZS · 07/11/2005 18:19

yeah - was wondering about it earlier !!

Freckle · 07/11/2005 18:24

I've obviously missed another thread, but an assessment interview at, what, age 3/4??? What sort of school is this?

Well done anyway, just a bit gobsmacked at the thought of having to go for an interview for infant school.......

ladymuck · 07/11/2005 18:26

Congrats - it feels like it is a huge hurdle to get over, even though you know that she's brill.

Now you just have to wait for the uniform fitting sessions .

That's great. I'm pleased your plans are working out.

SueW · 07/11/2005 18:41

Congrats.

Freckle, it's a private school (and a v popular one by the sound of it). DD had her 'assessment' at 2y4mo. Actually she played with a jigsaw whilst the head spoke to us, then answered some questions about the picture in the puzzle.

skinnycow · 07/11/2005 18:48

congratulations to little Hula

Its such a wondeful feeling when you're offered a place at a sought after school - I know how you feel!

Hulababy · 07/11/2005 18:58

Donb't worry the assessment wasn't an ordeal or really an interview at all. DD went to the school and had a little 15 minute chat and play with the pre prep teacher, drew a picture and that was it. Think me and DH had a bigger ordeal sat chatting with the head DD loved her time at bog school and managed int hat short time to tell the teacher about her holidays in Florida and France, about her baby friend and Dora the Explorer!

Rally don't want to go down the state v private debate here though please

RTKangaMummy · 07/11/2005 19:06

Deffo brill mini hula

Ellbell · 07/11/2005 19:16

Well done mini Hula!

Sorry Hula... I know it was just a typo, but I'm laughing at the image of 'bog school'. Very Shrek! (My dds would love it!)

Hulababy · 07/11/2005 19:20

Eeek - must preview!

Well done Hulababy, now keep your fingers crossed for me, DD2 has her assesment in January. I don't know what I'll do if she doesn't get in cos she already thinks of it as her school cos DD1 goes there.

Hulababy · 07/11/2005 23:01

Fingers crossed passionflower!

Sorry, didn't want to start a debate re state v. privat. Was just rather taken aback that an infant school had started interviewing toddlers. Presumably it was more of an assessment of the parents .

marialuisa · 08/11/2005 09:27

great news! I'm sure she'll love it there.

Passionflower · 08/11/2005 15:00

Ta, no doubt the sleepless nights will kick in after we get through x-mas.

Hulababy · 08/11/2005 19:27

LOL Freckle - I suspect so too!

Still struggling with idea my baby is going to be going to big school. Where did the time go?

sylvm · 09/11/2005 12:55

Hi Hula - yes I remember you wondering what the assessment would be like - glad your daughter got in. The time thing gets worse - it was my eldest's fourteenth birthday last Sunday and I kept looking at her thinking where has the time gone.

gingerbear · 09/11/2005 13:01
Grin
Hulababy · 09/11/2005 17:27

Yes, luckily there was no need for me to worry at all. It was a breeze :D

clary · 09/11/2005 17:32

Ahh Hula who wouldn't give her a place? She's such a poppet. Well done to mum and dad for being so impressive as well!

Hulababy · 09/11/2005 17:34

Thanks. Think it was far more daunting for me and DH spending that time with the Head!
