Has anyone checked out this link on facebook? Sounds fab! www.facebook.com/?ref=hp#!/pages/Urban-Green-Primary/217310481616953
Would be interested to hear what others think.

Southwark to Bexleyheath
Camberwell to Croydon
where?
SE London is a huge area and at 15 kids per teacher, unless they plan to have HUNDREDS of classes, very few families will get access
let alone finding the open space for their ideals far inside the M25

I saw it on Brockley Central and it said they are trying to find some space near there. From what I understood there would still be the normal amount of kids per year, just broken into smaller classes. Would be great if it could work though?

I'm not sure it sounds that great... by relying on a Facebook page instead of going to the trouble of setting up an actual website they haven't created the greatest of impressions.

As a teacher (in Lewisham) I'd say that 15 pupils per class is far from ideal (IME 20 is a good number for social reasons and for learning) and it seems strange that they would use the National Curriculum and levelling but haven't explained why. There's not nearly enough information on their FB page, especially considering how much more is available about Primrose Primary, another Brockley-based free school proposal (albeit one that is no longer active).

Are you involved in trying to set up the school SEmum?

SEmum · 22/04/2011 09:28

No. Saw it on Brockley Central and most of the people commenting were not parents. Hadn't seen Primrose Primary, that looks great. What a shame that never happened. We really need some new schools over this way!
