YG I'm sure it will go fine. We had ours in the last week of last half term. They phoned Thurday and came the following Monday. The inspectors don't have time to see a whole lesson, or didn't at our place, but did look at literacy and numeracy across all year groups as well as other subjects. They are only really there for a day and a half (unless the school is underperforming and they need to check their findings) as they discuss their findings and start to write them up on the second afternoon,so they are more checking out what was said on the SEF than observing loads of lessons. They speak to the kids a LOT and are keen to find out parental views too (hence all the questionaires and letters you will be sending out!!).
I have to say we found it quite stressful at the time but with only having a few days to worry it made it really bearable, and we were all relieved to have it over and done with before the Christmas productions got underway!!
Now for the boasting bit. We were graded as Outstanding in ALL areas . The Lead Insector had tears in her eyes at the feedback session she was so moved, none of them had given anything more than a Satisfactory to any school in their inspecting under the new system and they were all delighted to have seen our school. How bril is that. Of course my positive attitude to the visit has been coloured by this result, but I think I would have viewed it positively anyway as it did not feel at all heavy handed, and felt very objective too.
Hope it goes well for you YG and do let us know.
