Hello -

I've been looking at Merlin, Harrodian and Rokeby (in Kingston), in South West London was wondering if anyone had any experience or advice? This would be for a pre- prep place . . . .

Many Thanks

No personal experience but from friends who have sent their children there: Rokeby is very traditional, does what it says it does on the tin, few rumours of late that it isn't as good as it was - they tend to stay until 13+. Merlin - relaxed, friendly little pre-prep with a bit of creativity that has a let chlidren be children attitude but only until 8. Harrodian - don't know - nobody I know has sent a child there and that might say quite a lot about it. You've been doing the looking, what do you think? If you are happy or have a nagging doubt listen carefully. My info may be a bit out of date as my DC are 12+ now. We were very happy with local cofe in this neck of the woods though and still got brilliant offers from the independent sector.

I went to see the Harrodian because it came very highly recommended from a friend with our children who mostly praises the happiness of all the children there. she said the sport and the amount of time spent outside are strengths but academics are fairly average. I went to see it and the facilities are great but I found the headmaster a little underwhelming. Also I have heard rumours of drug problems but unsubstantiated.
