Teacher Exchange Trips - Who Pays?

My DD's school has very close links with a school in Kenya and one in China. The Headteacher plus a number of teachers visit the school/s every year. The school obviously benefits from these links but does anyone know how these trips are likely to be funded? Do schools get a seperate pot of money for such activities or does it all come from the same education pot?

They used to be funded by the British Council for learning

I went on one which was certainly funded at least in part by the British Council. I don't know whether the LA put in any funding, but there definitely wasn't any funding provided by my school.

DD's teachers go on these, and they are indeed funded by the British Council. I think this is quite common - visited a school overseas a couple of months back and met a couple of uk teachers who were there for a week.
