we are considering whether to send our son to MF and would really appreciate any views on the boarding houses for senior boys. what are the pros/cons of the off campus houses? thank you!

All the houses have their own ethos which is derived from the current housemaster and his wife. There is definitely a need to be very organised if you are in an off campus house as there is no possibility of popping back to get a book if you have forgotten it! Hence my DC is on campus!
Unless it has recently changed you are not given a choice or asked for a house preference formally. I believe one can give a preference informally.
