I've been recently persusing a few of the recently released ISI reports and have found a fantastic one for Chiswick based school Arts Educational Schools.

www.artsed.co.uk/images/uploads/main/STD3919_Report_Arts_Ed_JW_FINAL.pdf

It's fantastic to see a vocational school keeping up academic standards and thought i'd post the link for any of you facing similar decisions to me over the next year.
Looks like a fantastic place to get a well rounded education including dance, music and acting.

Arts Ed has always had a very good reputation. A colleague of dh (he teaches at a similar establishment for 16 plus) teaches there.

Not too sure about the literacy teaching at that school: three 'fantastics' in one post? What about 'tremendous', 'superb', 'unbelievable'... Wink Grin

I would imagine the literacy teaching to be of a very high standard seeing as they are educating the next generation of actors who have to be able to understand and perform often complicated playtexts.

I would have thought the OP was a parent rather than a teacher at the school.

In general you do get a high standard of academics at vocational schools, which to me says that when children enjoy what they are doing they achieve well.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 19/03/2011 20:20

elphaba If the OP wants to praise their kids school then they should do so. Don't pretend to have just stumbled on this marvelous ISI report which you felt strangly compelled to post on the internet. I would have to say that it looks a bit more like a very unsubtle attempt at self promotion by the school.

elphabadefiesgravity · 19/03/2011 20:55

Thats what is confusing me,. A school with the reputation of Arts Ed wouldn't need to self promote in this way.

Its really, really hard to get in there.

Ditto: not like they are begging kids to apply or anything.
