We are losing the best teacher ever in dds class this Xmas and everyone is gutted.

Hang onto him, whatever it takes...

JoolsToo · 21/10/2005 11:47

maybe there's a survey in that - are redheads brainier than brunettes?

nice when you can have a say in the appointment!

Ours does EVERYTHING-- healthy schools initiative, Golden mile, great trips, PGL residential weekends, and makes the kids do funny voices/names for their choice of school dinner every morning...(Battered fish = Gurgle-Gurgle-Ouch. Macaroni cheese to be said in OTT Italian accent etc) Can't really make that part of the job description for the newbie.

It's great to have men in primary schools!

DSs school have 3 male class teachers (out of 14); this is down from 5 when ds1 started. But the two others have moved to be specialist IT/sport and music teachers, so they are still around.

and the Head is a woman, which is great too

bubble99 · 22/10/2005 20:03

We have no men at our school, which is crap. Most of the male applicants don't even make the shortlist. I've queried this and been told that male teachers 'generally prefer' teaching KS2+ We are a new(ish) PFI/PPP school (Jarvis. Grrrr!) and our original cohort of children are only now starting KS2. I am watching and waiting to make sure we get some blokes in asap.

At our school we have 2 male teacher, 1 TA and 2 supply out of 50 staff so not a good quota. Also to make it worse out of 85 kids we only have 10 girls!
