In praise of teachers

My firstborn has just started in reception and I'm a new school governor and I knew teachers had a heavy load but I'm now starting to see what that means. We had a governors meeting on Monday and parents evening on Tuesday and Wednesday. So for three of the teachers that are governors, they haven't been home before 10.00 pm every night this week. That's with an 8am start. When are they supposed to eat!
So let's have a big round of applause please.

Well done Mog - good thread. I agree, I've seen a different side to it all since my DDs started reception a few weeks ago. Bloody hard work and they must need the patience of a saint.

I agree - really great. DS1 really shone at nursery - but since starting school he's coming on in leaps and bounds - can't believe the progress he's made - and they've only started going fulltime this week - so only been having 2hrs a day until this last Monday. With my back garden backing onto the school I know how late they often stay - I'm sometimes in the garden when I here some of the teachers telling the CLEANERS that they'll lock up as they've still got stuff to do .
