Please can someone tell me VERY SLOWLY if the Culham ES is taking any more admissions for y1 in Sept 2011 or not?

Sorry for being so slow, but I keep hearing so many different things.
Thank you.

Here is a link that should answer most of your questions,

culhameuropeanacademyproject.org/qa_questions.htm

Thanks,

I can't see an answer to OP's question on there.

OP - Given that it is closing in 6 years time; would you want a place even if they are admitting Y1 in september?

I have friends with DC there, they were already looking around local independent schools last term, worried about the future there.

Checkmate - I'm actually thinking about some work which can involve KS1 age children.

Also, a friend has a current y1 there and is hoping to get another place in sept for a yr 1. She seems to think her kids will be there till they're 18?????

Confused.

hi, I think the EU are pulling out in 2016 (i think) but school are hoping to reform as a language academy and remain open but be taken into the British education system. I don't know how far along this transformation is.

The new entrants may indeed be there 'till 18 if the Academy is realised, but don't think they will be in a European School as such 'till 18.

westerngirl - if you read the link that cafla posted, you'll see that its been confirmed now that it won't work for them to transform into an academy. "Too many differences between the EU and UK systems" is the given reason.

OP - have you spoken to your friend very recently, though? There were high hopes for the Academy scheme, and its very recently that they've had it confirmed that it wont happen.

Girls,

With the academy now not opening, "A group of parents and teachers from the European School Culham are in the process of setting up the Free School project 'Little European School' for intake to Reception and Year 1 in September 2011 at or near Culham. The planned curriculum and structure with a English/French and an English /German sections would be the same as was planned for the European Academy."

This was submitted to the council at the end of last week, and we now have to await their decision...

Aha!
Thank you Cafla!
Good luck with the council app.
