DD very quiet at nursery, very noisy at home!

Was talking to dd's new keyworker at nursery this morning and asking how she was getting on, she said absolutely fine, joins in everything, gets on well with others etc. Then she said "and she is starting to come out of herself now which is great"

Apparantly she is fairly reserved and quiet and VERY well behaved at nursery - erm - is this my child??? She is the youngest in her group (she's 3 and 1 month) and I have noticed that when there are a lot of kids around she is quite shy and quiet, but I figured at nursery where she knows them all she would be just as she is at home, ie never stop talking, rushing around, bossy, mad etc.

Her keyworker assured me that this is normal but is it?

Mine has gone the other way, loud at home, quite at nursery.

dd1 is a bit of a softie (whinger ) and any situation that is a bit off the norm can throw her, but she seems to have settled in at playgroup. Hasn't ever been to nursery, mil has her when I work so I was a bit worried about her being clingy.

BUT she has become very loud and noisy since going there, only been since September and is getting naughty too.

It definitely changes their personality.

Same here DS is 2.5yrs and has recently moved into a different room. I had a couple of the carers in is previous room mention that when he talked it was only in whispers and rarely - he was speaking in 5 and 6 word sentences at home.

Since he's moved into the new room this has changed and now he chat's away the same way he does at home. But it worried me as well, I did call the nursery and spoke to one of the directors about how we could encourage his self confidance at nursery, she was going to sort out having him monitored for a couple of days to get a feel for what was happening and then come back with a plan for us.

When she spoke to the staff they all told her that there wasn't a problem he was just speaking very quietly.
