At least I think that's what it was called! I remember it when I was in the Infants. It was a big orange folder full of bits of card with letters, words and bits of words on and you had a green plastic thing to slot them into to make sentances..... anyone remember it?

Unifix is stil available and very useful but it is 1cm plastic cubes used mainly for mathematical stuff. Are you thinking of sentence builders ir maybe unifix had a very early incarnation as letters and words before my time??

dd1 uses unifix for numeracy but not for literacy?

I think you may be referring to 'Breakthrough to literacy' - sentence building scheme.
