Ds is in y5, so I know we may have left it a bit late.

He's bright enough, but we think he probably needs help with technique.

Where are you? I am an 11+ tutor.

Near Reading.

I am in Gloucestershire and I am fully booked for after school classes anyway - but we do run holiday crash courses in the first four weeks of the summer holiday if you are still stuck by then.

A bit far, I think! Grin

But perhaps you could advise me what I need to look for?

Is 'The Eleven-Plus' one exam, the same in all schools, or does each school devise and set their own paper?

I am £36 per hour for my advice!! Grin
Start with NFER papers! Get a local tutor tutor quick - most kids started in November.

Post on mumsnet local? Ask year six parents for advice? Sorry, don't know your area, but recommendations are key, I think, when it comes to finding a good one.

Try the eleven plus forum for your area (if you just google 11+ it should come up) - it will tell you which elements each area/school uses (eg English/maths/verbal or non-verbal reasoning), and will also give you guidance for self-tutoring. I'm not sure if they are able to recommend tutors but you may get someone to private message you?
