Kid's creative workshops

Hello all! First time posting and it's a request! (Shame on me)
I'm an Independent Visitor which is a sort of mentoring / befriending scheme for looked-after children. I'm after some fun things to do with kids and was wondering if anyone could recommend any creative workshops for children aged 8 - 12ish in and around London. I'm talking about things like mask and puppet making, creative writing, drama groups, music-making and the like.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,

Rachel

Do you have a budget? If so you could try <a class="break-all" href="//www.artyparty.co.uk/holiday.htm" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Arty Party. They run workshops in the holidays, or if you have a group, might come and do something bespoke for you.

Look at the regular activities provided in the big art galleries - Tate Modern, Britain, etc
Check your local authority arts dept website, and local thetares for youth theatre activities and classes - do you want activities or all over London?

Yep - all over London is fine - we can travel. Art galleries is a good idea. Thanks Blu!

Here are some places that my DD has been to and loved:

Discover in Stratford

Museum of London always has lots of activities

Family concerts at the Barbican are fun - we went to a sea themed one, DD played in a Gamalan orchestra, made drums and headdresses in the foyers and then got to join in with the orchestra at the main concert.

Time Out always has lots of ideas.

Thanks piprabbit. I'd been on Time Out but lots of their entries seemed out of date. The Barbican thing sounds especially brill. I'll definitely look into that.
