Good state schools in Bristol

DP and I are planning to move to Bristol with DD, who's 2.5.

However, the state schools (primary and secondary) all seem to have poor Ofsted reports, which I find amazing. Many independent schools seem to be succeeding though, for some reason.

Are there any good primaries and secondaries in Bristol, that you can recommend. We're going to base the move around the schools.

I doubt that we could afford independent school fees.

Thanks very much. :)

Oh, by the way, I am totally ignorant to the geography of Bristol, so apologies if I'm a bit slow!

Ah, just realised that there's a specific Topic for Bristol, so I'll post there. Sorry! Blush

Hi Rainydaze, i'm also planning on moving to Bristol with my 3 year old daughter and am looking to find out where the good schools are. Did you get any useful information? I can't find where to go on this site for location-specific threads.
Thanks

This is a very common question on the Bristol network. Go to topics, select Mumsnet local and then click on .....more and a full listing of all local networks comes up in alphabetical order.
You will also need to look up house prices to see which areas you can afford to live as Bristol house prices (and rents) are high in the popular areas.
