dd1 will be 5 on Sept 5th 2006... and will start full-time after the summer hols next year.
when will I need to apply to primary schools for her?
I have had conflicting dates from the schools I am visiting - one said November this year and the other said Jan/Feb next year!

Look on your LEA website - it should be a set date for the whole LEA.

well you can put their name down as soon as possible, then the school will usually send you an application form in the term that they turn four, if you are unsure, ring your county council and ask to be put through to education, primary schools, they will give you the right answers.

It may be that one school operates under a LEA general application system while another (Voluntary Adied or opted out) has a direct application system on top of that, or that they are under separate LEA's so special rules might enable you to apply for each. Your LEA should issue information and forms to those whose children are eligible. Some areas will already be out so worth giving them a ring to check sooner rather than later.
