This is long and rambly but I'm off work ill and it's the first time I've had the time to sit down and write this out.
I work in a museum and my degree is in History and Heritage. For the past 8 years I have been getting more and more into child support. I have done playscheme's and special needs playschemes, I run an after school club for disadvantaged children, and I have also completed projects with the pupil refferal unit.
I've gradually realised that this is what I want to do rather than work in museums.
So this summer I got another part time job to run alngside my current one working or a charity.
I'm really dissapointed with it as I was told I would be working with families but all I'm doing is photocopying for them as they have had no referrals. And I have been told I'll only probabl be working until April because of budget cuts.
Even though I have worked with children lots I dont have any relevant qualifications just experience.
I cant afford to go back to college as I need to keep a job.
I want to work with special needs/disadvantaged children but I really don't know how to get into it, what qualifications I need and what jobs I could do.
I'm goin to post this in employment too but would really appreciate your help and advice.
Thank you

If you're interested in teaching you could go for GTP. Apparently they pay you throughout your on-the-job training.
