We are relocating to this area and would like to look for a catchment area with a really good school for primary and secondary in these areas as it will determine where we look. We need mixed schools as have boys and girls. I have looked at Ofsted and GCSE results to get an idea but would really welcome any views. We cannot afford private.

I don't really know the area, but I've come across the Wroxham School in Potters Bar through my work, and I think it's fantastic.

I don't know much about Potters Bar primaries, but for secondary, Dame Alice Owens is a fantastic school and highly over subscribed. There is also Mount Grace but I don't know what it's like and Chancellor's School in Brookmans Park.

In Hatfield, Bishop Hatfield's Girls is supposed to be a good school.

But really if I was moving to the area, I would look as close as possible to Dame Alice Owens. It's partially selective so even if you don't live right on top of the school and your child's bright, they've got a chance down the academic selection route, but living close to the school would also give you a good chance on distance. And they have a sibling policy!
