We've been invited to take part in a TUC conference aimed at everyone involved in schools ? parents, teachers, headteachers, governors, unions and local authorities. We're there to give the parents' perspective on what matters most to parents about schools.

It would be great to represent as many views/parents as possible so do please add your thoughts here before Saturday and we'll try to pass on as many of them as possible.

Thanks

MNHQ

Ah, thought that was your only post, Jo. Apols. And thanks! Grin

Of course we are all lucky in this country. It's just that reading threads about what parents would like their children's schools to be like makes me feel very, very glad that my children's schools are doing pretty much what everyone is wishing for. I am a terrible complainer when it comes to education, but I can't complain about either of their schools. Smile

Agree with so much on here

love of learning - among the teachers as well as the kids

effective management of staff - firm but fair and supportive

I know bullying must be v. hard to deal with, so teachers and schools do have my sympathy - but they start to lose my sympathy when the only strategy is denial.

and speaking personally I want teachers who accept the notion "that every teacher is an SEN teacher" plus a decent SENCO - though I would suggest that the 2nd helps acheive the 1st. If you want a definition of "decent" I'd be happy to oblige with more detail Grin

What makes for a good SENCO madsadlibrarian ?

I think I quite fancy being one of those one day!
