Playdate tips!

Sorry, not an education question but didn't know where else to post.

Have a little girl coming to play with dd after school on Thursday, and it's this child's first ever playdate. We're used to having other kids over, and have developed a few strategies to ensure that things go well, but I particularly want this little girl to have a really nice time, so I just wondered if any MNetters could share their own ideas about how to make playdates fun!

They're both five, by the way, and I'm sure they'll be very capable of entertaining themselves most of the time so I'll probably end up just leaving them to it! Grin But still, any bright ideas welcome!

DS had his first friend round for tea after school teh other day. I just let them get on with and tried to not worry too much when practically every toy in his bedroom ended up on the floor.

For five year old girls, I'd say:

  • Make sure they have a snack when they get in.
  • Have something in mind that you can suggest for them to do, in case they can't make up their minds and/or fall out about what to play with. Hama beads always do the trick in this house.
  • Make sure she knows where your loo is, in case she's too nervous to ask!

Have fun!
