it's his birthday today and I just checked his school bag for letters, 'pictures', etc etc and found a birthday card from "the staff and pupils at xxx school".
With his name hand written in by his teacher. I'm sure it probably happens in lots of other places too - but I thought it was really lovely that they bother to send a little 'school made' card to the pupils on their birthdays - just makes it feel like they pay really good attention to the pupils, and not just to the results
