It is CRB you need to look for (just in case you are looking for CBR and can't find reference to it).

No recommendations though as I don't live in that area.

Can you enrol her in a school now so she doesn't fall further behind and then sort out the tutor to fill in the gaps and help support her with what the new suff she would be doing at school ?

You could also try personal tutors.

All their tutors have to be qualified teacher, have to be CRB checked, and undergo very thorough assessment procedures.

For maths, my kids (aged 9 and 11) do Conquer Maths It's like having a GCSE maths tutor in your computer. They cover all the GCSE work from the basics to A*. My kids do around 20 mins a day of it and seem quite happy working through it independently. Hope this helps Smile

Never mind tutors, get her into school.

Are you in the UK? If so, your LEA have a legal responsibility to provide her with a school place.

If you have not yet done so, contact your LEA and apply for a place.

Hi DancingHippoOnAcid!

Thanks for your message!
I know all this and have already applied for, now we have to wait until they find a place for her. However my concern still,as for her age she is suppose to be in year 7, year 7 is hard as it is for all kids and it would be harder for her as she has not done year 6. Also she will be taking exams entrance for secoundary school. Because of "an unfortunately circunstance" she has missed year 6 and has been going throught a very hard time in her life and the LEA and myself are trying to fund a way for her to do year 6 now and year 7 next year.
I am very concern and still want to find a private tutor for her. She loves school and she loves studying and that will make her happier and will make things a bit more easier for her. Thanks for all your help! Smile

dessa - is there a special reason why the LEA cannot offer your DD a place now? Because they do have an obligation to find her a school place. How long are they expecting you to wait.

It does seem from your posts that there are special circumstances involved here but make sure the LEA do not try to wriggle out of their obligations.

In our case we were told by our LEA that we were not in the catchment area for any local primaries when looking for our DD some years back. So we had to go private.

Could have fought the LEA on this but at the time did not want DD to suffer in the meantime as it would have been a long drawn out battle with DD getting no education.

Still makes me angry though Angry

Can the LEA offer you some help with a home tutor while you try to sort out a school?

Have heard that they sometimes do this for DCs who cannot attend school for one reason or another, but no personal experience.

They may be able to help with giving you a list of local tutors at least.
