Has anyone tried Muzzy languages?

Is it any good? DD1 (5) keeps saying she wants to try it as she has seen the adverts. She is learning Spanish at school and loves that.

I bought the French for mine at about that age. They watched it a bit (far more often in English than in French) and now it just gathers dust. Animation is crude and I don't think simpy watching a DVD will teach language skills (although both mine do seem to do OK at languages at school so maybe it helped more than I realised). It is also expensive so only buy one at at time rather than both as I did until you know DD will watch it.

We got Italian one about year ago, DD (4) still watches it and has picked up loads of words. Not sure if I'd spend so much money on it though (we got it for free from friend), especially if your DD is learning the language at school. We have some dvd's in Italian (little red riding hood, cinderella, pinocchio), she loves them much more. And books.

Bought French and DD watched English. Same as above, over enthusiastically bought both volumes & now gathers dust!
Stupidly bought Chinese at the same time- didn't consider would be exactly the same story. Diction really poor and mumbled on the Chinese version.
Think DD got more pleasure from the free stuffed Muzzy that came with the pack.

I bought it. Wasn't impressed. As others have said, the children soon realised that they could watch the English version. I sent it back before the end of the trial period and got a full refund.

My children are older now and I really wish those Xbox games would all come in other languages so they would have to use their language knowledge to finish the game.

We had the French.

I don't think DD really learned anything from it except the correct way to pronounce 'Jean'. The story formed the basis for her favourite pretend game for several years thereafter which wasn't quite what I had in mind!

Was apalled. There are only 200 words of vocabulary, and the storyline is awful. In about the first scene, the queen worries about the size of her bottom, while the handsome prince is very strong and the princess is extremely thin. I sent it back and got a refund.

Living Language do a wonderful magical series of CDs with songs, rhymes and speech. Get that instead at about one tenth the price and ten times the value.

Haha, weirdly I used to watch the one that teaches English.

I still love it now, and I have a perfect RP accent!

But no, watched the French one and it was just silly.
