DS in Reception at school that goes straight through to 18. DD due to join Nursery class in Sept 11. She will be 3 in December. Currently at home apart from apart from a morning play group once a week. I think she would enjoy something like playschool or Nursery from Jan till June. DS needs to be dropped off circa 8:40 and picked up at 3pm and School is about a 15/20 minute drive away. We are based in Greenwich. Andy ideas of the sort of thing DD could do specific or general and how we could access them would be greatly appreciated.

Well, when I had child one in school, child two went to a morning nursery tat started at 9.15, so just time to get the bus from school to there. Collected at 12.15, so we had lunch together ad some time before the school pick up.Once a week, twice a week at the end, ws all I could afford, but it was good training for starting school nursery!

So she turns 3 in Dec 2010?? If so her early years funding starts Jan 2011 . Look around for a preschool that will take her for a few sessions a week from Jan .

Those not attached to schools may be more flexible than school nursery classes. My lad has been at a community preschool where children start at 9.15 and finish 2.5 or 3.5 or 6 hours later ( depending on parents choice of finish time).

Personally, I would hesitate to start them at playschools which last so many hours of the day.

Thanks for responses, have found a council list and sent off an email to a local nursery.

lots of good playschools in greenwich/blackheath.

if your ds is at colfes then first steps in st michaels church on blackheath park is quite handy? morning sessions are 9.30 til 12 i think?

was going to say just twos at mycenae house - but your dd a bit old for that now?

there is another one in greenwich centre too..... courtyard?

also montessori -there's one on dacre park and another in blackheath village?

think if you want her to start anywhere in Jan then really you need to be phoning round - most will have waiting lists -an email might not help?

lucinda - what is your agenda here? your posts are anti playschool now? how odd.

Thanks just tried some phoning - not encouraging. Riverston seem to have space, have you any experience of them?

riverston is a school that goes from 3-16 - and the nursery section is more childcare than playschool from what i've heard?

personally - would keep on phoning - they don't know availability 100% until january and if you're persistent you'll probably get somewhere?

lingfield in blackheath another one i know people have happily used as playschool - can just do morning/afternoon sessions?

Have you looked at the Families Online website?
