Ds1 doesn't start until Monday - love him to bits of course, but really looking forward to starting - it seems like ages.

Same here, puffy. Which LEA are you? We are Richmond upon Thames. DS2 starts on Monday, but he is in the first group, and the third lot doesn't start until Friday 23rd. We're at a bit of a loose end now because DS1 went back a week ago and his friends still at nursery have gone back this week.

KateF · 13/09/2005 14:33

We are still waiting too. DD2 starts on weds 21st although she's been in for 2 mornings while I've been working as classroom assistant. She loved it so much she's driving me nuts with "is it the day yet?"

figleaf · 13/09/2005 15:56

We had 1 morning last Friday but are not in proper till Monday 26th. The oldest third are in this week and they are joined by the middle third next week. I`m concerned that my tot(and the rest of the youngest third) will be greated by 20 kids who all know each other and the class room etc and really feel out of it.

Twiglett · 13/09/2005 15:58

mine doesn't go full time till monday

he's on afternoons this week .. and was mornings last week

can't wait

JoPG · 13/09/2005 16:56

DS1 doesn't start until 26th September. He then does mornings until half term, and then full days after that. HE is one of the youngest in the year and so starts quite late.
It seems a long time since he left pre-school and the summer hols are really starting to drag, esp since all his friends have now started school so we've got no-one to meet up with.
We did take advantge of one last holiday out of term time though, we went to the Isle of Wight last week and the weather was great.
Off to Legoland on Thursday, should be pretty quiet. We were going to go today, but apparently it's closed.

My DTs start reception tomorrow. They will be going afternoons to begin with and full time after half term.

stitch · 13/09/2005 20:16

this is all very different. ds2 went to reception on friday for two and a half hours, and on monday he went the full day, as today, and onwards.
thank god!

lucylady · 13/09/2005 20:20

There is a school in my area that keeps their reception children part time until January!.

KateF · 13/09/2005 20:21

Yep-mine will be mornings only til January too.

stitch · 13/09/2005 20:22

omgso they could be five and three months old before they go full time?
ouch.

Furball · 13/09/2005 20:25

figleaf - I too have the same worry, DS doesn't start until the 28th for 3 afternoons just with those few starters then on the Monday it's straight in with the others, some, who will have already been there for 3 weeks.

KateF · 13/09/2005 20:25

No-she's only 4 and 3 months now (may birthday) so will be 4 and a half. Mind you she wanted to stay for lunch the first morning she came in so how I'm going to hold her off til January I do not know

Slink · 13/09/2005 20:48

My dd starts tomorrow but for half days only for two weeks. We only found out she was accepted for the school LAST MONDAY lea lost her paper work and the school had not opened the post till friday 2nd grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

godd luck to alls little ones xxxx

NoPearls · 13/09/2005 20:52

Still waiting - DD starts on Wednesday next week, mornings only until Christmas. It was her last day at nursery today. They gave her a teddy bear to keep which was wearing a t shirt with the name of the nursery on it.

edgetop · 13/09/2005 21:24

my ds started school on monday, he goes till 12 this week & till 1.15 next week then full time after that.he really likes it so far so that makes me feel happy

puffywuffybum · 13/09/2005 22:03

Crikey - heard about the half days til January thing - must be v tricky when parents work full time.

Sob Sob dd went off today had a stomach and then said her bits hurt when she wee'd then we met the teacher and she sat with the other children this horrid girl snatched the playdoh from my dd but dd just let her have it and said would not play with her, i gave her kiss and left..........all pain went away. I have to get her at 12pm and we are off to lunch at pizza hut

tiredemma · 14/09/2005 11:23

yep, ds is 5 on friday and starts reception next tuesday..... its dragging really and its a shame for him as all of his nursery friends have gone and he has to play "with the babies" as he says.

figleaf · 22/09/2005 20:10

Still waiting. Start on Monday.DS getting quite anxious at the wait.

NoPearls · 22/09/2005 20:31

Summary from DD of her first morning:

We had playdough and someone stuck their finger up their nose and ate the playdough. We made chocolate biscuits with mar-jar-een (new word said very carefully!) and we ATE them (used to just bring them home at nursery). You have to stand in a neat line and stay still. The toilet door didn't stay shut.

I think she enjoyed it????

Furball · 22/09/2005 20:53

I'm still waiting, though the end is in sight. Next Wednesday the 28th is our BIG day. Been and bought this book today which seems to have gone down very well. Mind you he's probably sooo bored at home, he'll probably be just as glad to start. I mean I've been doing my best for the last 9 weeks! but it's getting hard now.

figleaf · 23/09/2005 10:50

Great book idea, may try to get one when out on Saturday, my 9 week wait is up Monday so couldn`t order it

figleaf · 26/09/2005 20:22

first day today, 9 weeks after leaving preschool. I was relieved for Ds, that he was finally in but when I took the dog out later I saw some buttercups and wept for the loss of my last baby - he always picks them for me and says he loves me.

He is in bed now, went at 7.45 (far too late I feel but then he was a bit hyper).
