What does your PTA fund?

Hi. Our PTA is discussing future projects to fund. Just wondering what sort of projects/ activities other PTAs funded. Do parents have a say in what the PTA funds or is it determined by the head?

We discuss between ourselves and ask the Head what the school would like. We fund things like -

Christmas discos
Y6 leavers party
Outdoor stage
Digital cameras for each class
Outdoor play equipment
Music workshops
£50 for each class teacher to spend as they wish (on school stuff Grin !

As above, really.

Theatre trip at Christmas
Leavers disco
Playground equipment
Theatre workshops
Library books
School garden stuff

The PTA usually wait for the head to indicate what they need but suggestions are always welcome from members and other parents. I think this year they will be buying some large outdoor play equipment - climbing frame etc

disco each term
Lots of workshops and theatre company visits to school
playground equipment
Skipping workshops
extra equipment in classes
Music workshops

Love the sound of all those workshops!

Does your PTA fund your school's after school club (ie the out of hours care for children of working parents)?

Loads!

Teachers submit a "wish-list" each year for their classes, most of which can be bought, things like a digiatal camera for each class, art equipment.

We also have funded in the past-

Out door play equipment
Indoor play equipment
Landscaping of the nursery garden
Bikes and trikes for nursery
sound and lighting for the main hall
Curtains for halls
palm-tops
Leavers discos, residential and jumpers
artists in residence
Drama and music workshops
Playground markings
Restocking the junior library.. to name but a few in the couple of years that I have been involved.

We also have a "Big project" on the go, two actually, to fund an outdoor classroom for KS1 and to re-stock the infant library.

And this is a state primary in a very mixed area, so huge hats off to the PTA!

Woodrose in our school the after school club is separate from the school admin but it is run by some lovely TA's and is not too expensive but has a huge waiting list.

The workshops have been greatSmile

We are currently raising money for

white board for each classroom (waiting on new school being built)

school sport uniforms
P7 leaving BBQ and yearbook
Christmas present for child
restocking library books
P1 "meet and greet" in October of new term
the teachers can approach PTA if they would like something. Several years ago both P1 classes received a reading kit.
Last year PTA paid for each childs school trip
First communion photographs and party

Sorry meant to say the Head doesn't have a say in what is funded. They too request funds like the teachers, parents etc
