Outstanding primaries in Winchester

Hi all,

Had a look last night to see if there are any primary schools around Winchester with excellent Ofsted reports (grade 1's). I know the schools in Winchester have a great reputation.

But I couldn't find any. The two schools which people seem to rave on about are Western and St Bede which have mainly '2's' for their reports.

I know Ofsted is only part of the equation, but I was just a bit surprised. Any thoughts? Thanks everyone.

Are there any primary schools or prep schools in the South East that you haven't looked at?

Good question - have certainly a new found knowledge of the schools in the South-East.

I have learnt one thing though - the 'perfect' school doesn't exist. Just finished a qualification in headship and do hyou know what - I think I might go and open my own school . At least I only have myself to blame then if it isn't perfect. And I would be sooo fired up to make it just that.

It just seems to me that you aren't at all focused on what you need. It will be very hard to put your dcs in prep school and then move them a year later to state, which you said is your intention. You would be better off finding an area you want to live with good state schools and go from there.

Every school has good and bad points and in the end only you can decide what is right for your dcs. I chose a school that most of my friends dismissed in favour of a more 'fashionable' alternative. The school I chose was a perfect fit for ds irrespective of the fact that he didn't know anyone when he started (he would have had several friends from the off at the other school).
