Best primary schools in Winchester

Hi all,

We are going to look at some primary school options around Winchester.

Could anyone tell me which ones are suppposed to be the best - not sure if there are any outstanding ones and where they are?

I know it all comes down to catchment and waiting lists but that would be fine - no rush.

Heard Colden Common primary is good - any thoughts and which others should I contact?

Thank you!!!

Hello, my DD has just started at Kings Worthy Primary School. She is very happy so far and I am quite impressed.

Other schools I have heard good things about are Weeke and Itchen Abbas. And the one in St Cross (St Faiths?)

Sorry not to be more helpful but at least this will bump the thread too!

Thanks WinkyGirl - very helpful - especially as you mentioned Kings Worthy. We will proably put dc at Princes Mead to begin with - waiting lists everywhere. Do you know anything about this school - good or bad. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

lots of threads about schools in winchester if you search, including a few that you are already on ! one a few months ago talked a lot about various primary schools

Thanks lucysmum - will look back at my threads. A lot of changes since then so I need to go back and take a look. Thought Winchester was out of the equation but it keeps cropping up too much and is now likely to happen. Have I really been trying to sort this out for months Shock

I have heard good things about Princes Mead. My friend was going to send her children there but was also considering Twyford and the Romsey Collegiate School. In the end she went for RCS and is happy with it.

Not sure if it was waiting lists, cost or location which made up her mind!

The Princes Mead setting is gorgeous.

Thanks WinkyGirl - sounds promising and I do think Winchester seems a lovely place to bring up the children.

Looked through the threads and can't find any information on Winchester infants schools. So if anyone has the knowledge ... and the time to help me, I would be very grateful.

Thank you!!!!
