Primary vs secondary outstanding ofsted

Oh dear...

Currently dc1 goes to 'good' high school, dc2&3 go to 'outstanding' primary. High school is still improving (having been in special measures about 5 years ago).

But... we're thinking of moving. The village has an 'outstanding' high school but the primary is only 'satisfactory'.

Is this a big issue? Dc2 has just started Y6 so would be in high school before v much longer but dc3 is only in nursery so whole primary education ahead of him.

I'm so confused about what to do!

Am posting this in primary & secondary as well to maximise traffic!

Bit of a Sophie's Choice (who do I love most).

I would probably go for the outstanding secondary if you have to choose, because when your child is in primary they tend to be more compliant than when the hormones kick in, so you can always tutor yourself, if you are unhappy with progress.

Also, it is easier to listen to your child read every night or write out a few sums, than be in the situation I was in when my son decided to take up my long-standing offer to help him with GCSE maths by asking me to explain, from memory, whilst cooking dinner, how to find the surface area and volume of a cone Confused.

That said, a school which is improving as rapidly as DC1's will probably be outstanding soon anyway. Both schools are only one change of head away from a radical change.

What is the "satisfactory" school like? Visit, chat to pupils and head etc, much more useful than Ofsted.

Also how long ago was report - if a while, things may have changed; if v recent, the Ofsted framework has changed. My DC go to junior school I am very happy with, it just went from good to satisfactory but reading the report I am still happy. It's much much harder to get good or outstanding now.
