Really Crap GCSE results - what now?

My sister has received the following GCSE results:

Maths - F
Adult Literacy - E/F
History - F
English Literature - U
RE - F
Travel and Tourism - P (Equivilent to C)
Science double - P
ICT - P

So, what can she actually do now? She wants to be a graphic designer but personally I think she's kidding herself. Even college have told her she'd have to do a "introduction to art and design" course before doing a proper art and design course and THEN perhaps a graphics course ...

The college is right. There's no art GCSE's here. Just because these are not great it doesn't mean she won't be good at art, personally, I think she should give it a try.

Best of luck to her Smile

Don't write her off, encourage her to find something she's good at. Everyone's good at something, she's not academic, art may be better for her. The introduction to art will help her as there's no art in her GCSE's and it's important to learn the basics.

FT,

It is pretty common to do an art foundation course for the first year of art school. Even A* artists do this, so don't be put off by that. I think it is so that everyone gets a good grounding in all aspects of art, which may not be possible in a school setting.
