Holiday Handwriting Homework

My dd has brought home a homework sheet to copy out letters for practising a new style of handwriting. This has been set for the whole school. My dd is starting Y6 and has reached 5c for writing so I think that this is not age or ability appropriate. My dd has very good joined up handwriting already!

What would other mumsnetters do ? Really don't want to start off the new school year complaining !

I would ask my daughter if she wanted to do the sheet and if she does ...fine! other than that I wouldn't give it another thought.

dd is more interested in the reading scheme at the local library.

Am thinking of having a big clear up and accidentally putting it in the recycle bin !

I would keep my head down and hope that the teacher never asks for it. And if she does, I would fully support my daughter in stating that she is already exceeding expectations and age 10 is way too old to be unlearning an established way of writing.
