Re-locating to Somerset

Hi,
We will be moving from Pembrokeshire to Somerset in the next year and I need some advice on where the best schools are. We have two kids, ages are seven and eleven. We would like to be able to drive into Bath within thirty minutes. Obviously we are researching the whole county as best we can but any insider knowledge would be gratefully received. If we ended up living somewhere where the local state school were not up to scratch, then we would consider private education. Any advice?

Yup, another vote for Wells here too.

I moved to Midsomer Norton 4 years ago from the South East. It takes about 20 minutes to get into Bath.

My daughter has just left Norton Hill School which is an outstanding school which went into a federation with another local secondary school last September. They are due to be one of the first schools to become an acadamy under the governments new arrangements. My husband is a parent governor.

There are some good primary schools around.

Property prices are lower here than in either Wells or Bath.

I know that Churchill school in Churchill is good (or was a few years back). Bit more than 30 mins out of Bath though. More like an hour.
