Hi, my dd is very interested in doing drama and acting. Does anyone know of any good courses that are London based? She is 9.
TIA

What kind of thing are you after? If she wants to do something every weekend, then something like Stagecoach or Helen O'Grady is worth checking out. If she wants to do something over the summer, have a look at this for activities during London Theatre Kids Week.

TBH, there are loads of places that do weekend drama classes for children - it's just a case of finding one that suits your DD, your other committments and your pocket!

Have had bad experience of Stagecoach with DD - it is a franchise so very dependent on quality of particular school. We found the one DD went to was just used as a dumping ground for kids by some parents, and quite a few of the kids did not want to be there, so behaviour was bad. She was bullied by several girls in her group and the principal refused to do anything about it. Very expensive as well.

Why not look at junior sections of local drama groups? DD is involved with a very good local group who put on a very professional show in a proper theatre every year. They get great coaching from volunteers who are often working in showbiz themselves. DD absolutely loves it, and the whole thing only costs about £50 for the whole year.

Ask your local council about local groups or look for details at your library

Depending on where you live you might look at what the Unicorn Theatre is offering. Some of the children's theatre stuff they do is brilliant.
