DS 14 has already been referred to an Educational Psychologist by school, but they can't see him now until next term. Ideally we'd like to get him seen privately before then. He has real problems understanding how he thinks, e.g. he can't explain how he answers maths questions, how you work out 20x30 is 600.
He is also diagnosed dyslexic, but there seems to be more than that.

Anyhow he is just my normal worry.

Now DD2 7, is having issues at school. I was phoned by school today, she has pinched and hurt a girl on the stairs, and cannot explain why. As far as they know, no name calling happened, it was just a change to the school routine and she lashed out at an innocent bystander. She as improved over the last year, and no longer has tantrums and destroys her work, but has started to hurt other children.
She is described by her teacher as "very intelligent" (don't flame read on) but she says she is rubbish at writing. She only just accepts she is good at Maths, she doesn't think she is very good at reading, although she is towards the top of the class. She is surprised that anyone likes her; yesterday took the plaits she'd asked me to do out on the way into school, because she "looked ugly".
She is getting some counselling at school, but the violence is getting worse.

So I am beginning to wonder if she needs to see an Educational Psychologist too, and if one would give us a bulk discount.
