Adding a new card to Paypal account - Visa Debit - help!

I've operated my paypal account for years with no problems. But my old switch card has now expired and it waants me to add a new card.

My new card is a visa debit card, there is no option given for this so I have been trying to add it under visa/delta/electron.

Every time I fill in the details, it says 'unable to verify card holders address', though my address hasn't changed.

I'm worried that either a) they don't accept visa debit cards or that b) they won't accept my address as it is a few characters different from some format they have had in the past ie top flat, FL1 etc, or Lothian versus Midlothian for the region.

It's driving me mad as it means that I can't pay for anything, despite having plenty funds in my bank account, and instead offers 'e cheques' which take far too long to clear.

Paypal do have a phone number but it's in the blooming USA so I really don't want to have to phone it.

Anybody?

cant you add it as a bank account instead?

They already have my bank account. I understood that the card was to cover for when the account didn't cover the funds.

Though given that the card is drawn on the account anyway that doesn't make much sense does it!
