Buyer claim item damaged after collection

I recently sold a piece of furniture. The buyer paid in cash on collection and inspected the item when they collected. The buyer is now claiming that a large piece of wood is missing (which it isn't) and that they will have to pay to get it repaired. I know that it wasn't missing when they collected it. I don't want them to return the item and get a refund, as if there is now a piece of wood missing, I won't be able to re-sell it. On the other hand, they could be trying it on to get a partial refund.
Where do I stand?

As they paid cash on collection there is lttle they can do I think. Obviously they can leave you negative feedback, but I don't think ebay can make you refund the item.

I would say to them that they checked the item over when they bought it so sorry no refunds. Sold as Seen.

Good Luck.
