Sorry 2nd thread getting first one deleted as too much RL info on it!

I am selling a ELC Happyland set here was expecting to get £40ish so was getting excited when it went to £60 last night.

However got this email from buyer

'Hello there, I am feeling a bit guilty because there is someone else who obviously really wants your bundle and I have placed a max bid of £100 on it, mainly because i am going to lunch tomorrow and dont want to come home and find i have been outbid. Your Happyland looks so loved and neat and like your daughters and you really loved it and cared for it, it is such a Happy set and I have just got a headache bidding on all these HappyLand fairgrounds and things and being outbid at the last moment. Whatever price it goes for i think you deserve it, because its such a lovely set, but I am feeling very guilty and I already have a lot of HappyLand, so maybe if I win I could just donate it to Bidder4 for free who obviously really wants it. Of course, I would pay you by PayPal first and i am not sure if this is possible as you might not have the Bidder4 details unless they win. I hope you had a nice trip away...I am looking forward to this auction being over tomorrow!'

Now this seems very weird to me to offer to pay and send to next person (seems like an ideal chance to reclaim money from paypal as non delivery' so have sent this email back

'Thanks for your email, there are 2 options I can either try and cancel your bid and then the next person would win and no hassle to you or if your bid does win I have to post to you as paypal only covers us if I post to the address registered through paypal system and you could re ebay it (am happy for you to use my photos if this helps)

If you would like me to try and retract your bid please let me know and I'll do my best to help'

Now I have a feeling I may not get paid for this at all and have to wait the 2 weeks to be able to relist etc FFS why dont people think before they stick in a maximum bid sad am hoping they may want me to cancel there bid so it just goes quickly

Yes it is weird! Why would they bid on it , give you a hundred pound and then get you to send it to someone else....madness. I think your e-mail in good, nice and reasonable. They should have retracted their bid like you said. There is something going on.

Sounds fishy to me!

eandh · 23/01/2010 07:42

glad its not me that thinks its funny, shame as 6 different bidders and bet most of them would be happy to get it for £45 (am wondering if they are shill bidding with the other person?)

I would say its worth more than £40?

I dont think there is anything much you can do just yet, just wait and see if he gets back to you.

Keep his email just incase.

Have saved the email geordie tbh the whole lot has only cost me about £40 over the years as either presents or picked up at boot fairs/ebay so was happy to get my money back, I was only doing it to make some space and vecause my aprents are rather wonderful and taking the dd's on holiday at Easter (woo hoo 4 child free days and we may even escape for a break ourselves) and any money made from the sale I was going to save for them to have as spending money

phew she was outbidded now on £102 and Eddas has kindly blocked the other woman from bidding again for me still can't believe the amount it is going for. Found another car/play mat and extra figure so will chuck those in the box as extras

blimey! no wonder you've got so many bids, there's loads there!

very weird bidder though.

eandh · 23/01/2010 15:23

looks loads but I didnt think there was much I did get lucky as got the castle and figures at a boot fair for a £1 and the house was only about £2 (I love trawling boot fairs in the summer especially as dd2 is an early riser so she comes with me and we leave dd1 and dh asleep!)

Really pleased you got a good price for it.

Spending money for the dd's and a night out for you and eddas your dh!

eandh · 23/01/2010 20:00

Grrr first woman has been emailing me randomly through the day and asked why eddas helped me blocked her bids am ignoring them now and person who won paid within minutes just need to box it up to send now (have sorted all the figures etc into little bags and labelled them so they can tell which figures/acccessories belong to which set)

Eddas and I (and another friend) are trying to book a weekend away with the dh and all our dc so extra money will help for that will be mayhem though with 6 kids aged between 3 and 7 plus 3 dh's who like a drink and me, eddas and our friend all on diets!)
