Buyer has offered cash on collection - against eBay rules?

Hi all,

My first week of ebay transactions so still getting to grips with the basics. I've just sold my old laptop to someone who is picking it up at the weekend. He's offered cash on collection "to save me those pesky paypal fees". But there notices all over ebay about not completing transactions outside of ebay? Is accepting cash included as a banned transaction outside of ebay? If so I guess I can insist on Paypal, right?

Cheers all

Cash on collection is better for you as you won't incur paypal fees and also you won't run the risk of being scammed through paypal.

One scam people do is to pay via paypal and then collect in person. Then they tell paypal they have not recieved the item, paypal refund them because you can not supply a tracking number which is the only proof of delivery paypal accept, and so you are left out of pocket.

IMO cash on collection is the best way for items not being posted.
