Is it alright to ask for the tracking number from seller?

Seller stated in an email to me on Wednesday last week that she would be posting the item on Friday. In the item listing, she stated that she would be using Parcelforce 24 (not too sure what this exactly is, but having looked at their site I'm guessing that its should be at most around 3 business days). I haven't yet received the item, or had a card through the door etc. I'm slightly nervous as this is quite an expensive item so I'm wondering if it's the 'done thing' to ask for the tracking number, and if that's alright, will I seem neurotic if I ask for it so early?

Also, will the tracking number actually help me at all to find the whereabouts of the item?

Any advice/help is much appreciated
TIA
xx

No ask for the tracking details! Nothing wrong in that at all. I usually send the tracking details to my buyer once I've sent something anyway. Just say, please could you give me the tracking details for said item? No need to say anything else pr seem panicky. They would have to provide PP with the deatils should you queried it anyway
