Do you feel guilty winning 99p auctions?

I always do! I'm usually happy to spend more than that, and always feel a bit bad for the seller when their item sells for only 99p. I won 3 auctions last night for baby clothes, all of them sold at 99p when my max bid was a few pounds. Makes me wonder why people bother sometimes, seems like a lot of hassle to list, package, post etc, for so little return.

I do a bit when it's baby stuff as it must be disheartening at times, but then the seller can always set a reserve or use BIN if they want a certain amount. Or even just not complete the sale (though I know that's wrong, but they COULD)

But other stuff, books etc, no guilt at all.

there is a site dedicated to 99p auctions on ebaby, www.lastminute.com. I am unashamed to say I use it alot, as there are some great bargains to be found.

I do. On the other hand though, I don't mind if something of mine goes for 99p as all the 99p's really do add up. If it is something worth more, I normally start the auction at a bit more or just chance it.

this is why I never do well in sales jobs! I dont have that killer instinct. I've even refunded someone when they paid way too much for a pair of Havaiana flip flops I was selling! I tucked $20 back in the package for her. What a sucker aye

they usually overcompensate on postage i find so no i don't

Clothes, books, toiletries etc no I don't. But I once won a beautiful 3 wheeler pushchair well worth over £500 for the grand total of about £10 including the courier

no, as pinktulips says they up the postage to compensate.

If I list something to sell starting at 99p, I am prepared for the fact that it may only go for 99p.

I'm always very wary of the postage costs and I don't bid on something where I think they are trying to make money from the postage.

No. Maybe I should have.
Just did bad feedback ...as she was also really difficult to communicate with.

You might still have time to put in a claim. I know it is only 99p + postage, but it'll go on her Ebay record and if she does it a lot she'll get suspended.

If you start an auction at 99p you have to be prepared to let it go for that.

No, not at all.
Someone won my fridge for 99p when we moved!
I just wanted it gone, he emailed to say he'd understand if I didn't want him to have it!
I said come and get it you won it fair and square. He still felt guilty and turned up with wine and choccies for me!!

I have had some people give crap excuses for not sending though when I win 99p stuff... like the hotwheels set the chap claimed his daughter had broken just minutes before the auction ended. I added him to favourite sellers and sure enough caught him when he relisted it a fortnight later

No, most of my clthes go for 99p I make about 50p on the p&p, but it is gone and out of my hair and attic and being put to good use.

Funny, sometimes I do feel bad when I buy something for 99p, I just got a lovley dress from Polarn for dd for 99p and I almost wanted to pay more.

However I don't care a jot when I sell stuff for 99p or even 50p, sell enough and it soon adds up. If I don't want it to sell that cheap then I list it for more.
