buyer with 0 feedback and overseas

Someone bought my canon eos350d with buy it now, then sent an email requesting me to email them immediatly to arrange payment. It screamed of scam so I have canceled the sale. My issue is that ebay may still sharge me a final valuation fee of £40!!! can they do this when it was so obviously a scam?? do i report the seller and contact ebay in the vain hope they may assist me? I have emailed the buyer twice with no response. please help!

Did you put in your listing P&P details UK only or abroad also? If you only put UK then that's reason enough to cancel the sale, but if you put abroad too you should really sell to this buyer - couldn't you just send them a paypal invoice?

What reason did you give for cancelling the sale? I think generally if you cancel with no good reason the buyer has to agree to cancel too otherwise you don't get your final value fee back. Could be wrong though - quite new to it all myself!

I don't quite understand why you are so sure it's a scam but if you're really sure I would try reporting them to ebay and hoipefully you will get your money back if they agree.

Hi there, sure its a scam as the buyers profile was created in the last 30 days, he wanted me to email with regard to payment. I sent invoice. He never contacted me to say he was abroad how much for postage etc. The icing on the cake was an email to my actual in box, not ebay inbox saying they had paid but nothing paid to my paypal account when I checked

I never put UK only in lisitng as I don't mind sending abroad but have been ebaying for years and it just "felt" wrong. The email he sent me with regard to payment was in block capitals too. However I have now reported it to ebay and kept a copy of the email saying I had been paid to forward on to them.
