Italian postal system sucks. Letters and cards can take several weeks to arrive and parcels take much longer. Not sure whether couriers are better but if buyer is in a rush this may help.

I'm in Italy and always have things sent over as Signed for. Only costs £3.50 more and is well worth it as sadly there are a lot of light fingered people who work in the post office. Alternatively, ask someone for their work address as things are far less likely to go missing if they're destined for an office. I used to get my too big for signed for service parcels sent to my office and have never had a problem.

Couriers are better but very expensive.
