Why do people get into bidding wars so soon on eBay?

I'm selling something on ebay, and it still has 5 days to go, and there are 3 bidders bidding it up against each other...

Great for me, I know, but WHY???

Can't they see that they're probably raising the final price by 'declaring their hand' so soon?

I use a sniping tool, but if I didn't, I still probably wouldn't bid until the last minute.

I know somebody that uses ebay and they ring around their friends and get then to up the price so maybe when there are people bidding early its one of these 'scams'

sniping tool is an automatic bidding system which bids on your behalf, up to your pre-defined maximum, in the final seconds of the auction.

If you've ever been outbid in the last 10 seconds, and thought 'how did they do that?', then the chances are that it was a sniped bid.

I use auctionstealer.com, but there are lots of others.

I quite often bid early. I put my max in and thats that.

Some I win ... some I don't. Its no big deal.

I'd rather be on here than refreshing an ebay screen constantly.
