Cancelling an order on Vinted as a seller

I sold an item on Vinted this morning but I can't find the damn thing. I've been selling on eBay for almost 20 years with thousands of 100% positive feedback, started selling on Vinted around 3 years ago with no issues and this has never happened before. I'm so careful with listing and storing things but have obviously slipped up this time.

I gather from Vinted that I can cancel but that I may get a negative review. Can anyone tell me if this is an automatic negative review or one from the buyer? I appreciate she'll be irritated, I've already sent a very apologetic message. I gather there is a facility to remove such a negative review but I've never been through the process, so if anyone has any prior experience I'd be glad to hear of it.

Many thanks in anticipation 🙂

I'm pretty sure that you get one free pass.. Then the next time you'd get auto negative feedback.

If it's marked agreed with seller you don't get a negative review. I would message the seller to explain and then upon reply mark agreed by seller

I’m not sure it would be fair to remove the review. Even if it was an honest mistake, the order was accepted but not fulfilled, so from the buyer’s perspective the experience wasn’t as expected.

I've done this and got automatic negative. It's annoying but hey ho.

This. I think you have to accept your mistake so a negative review isn’t unjust.

I cancelled something I bought once and didn’t get the automatic negative review for it (so not sure if you get the same grace for the first time as a seller too).

If the automatic negative review does get posted, it would be up to the buyer to delete it if they wanted to. Someone cancelled an order on me but because they messaged right away and were really apologetic, I removed the 1 star review from Vinted as all there other reviews were good and seemed like an honest mistake.

if you do get a 1 star review from Vinted I wouldn’t worry too much, loads of accounts seem to have one or two of these nowadays and it would only put me off as a buyer if I could see you were not fulfilling multiple orders, rather than just a one off.

I'm the seller in this case 🙂

Thanks @IsTheRecyclingOut @idlieforyou. I accept that the buyer could leave a negative review as I haven't fulfilled the order, I just gather that they can remove any negative feedback if they choose to. I've done the same as @Lilac90 previously, although it was on eBay, so it wasn't a case of removing a negative (or neutral) review but not leaving one in the first place. I think if you can see that someone generally has solid positive feedback and is clearly a regular and decent seller then an honest mistake is something I'm happy to accept and let go of 🙂

Thanks @Vacuummyblub . I've just been looking at the cancelling order help section and I gather this is the case 🙂

Thanks @Lilac90 I'd feel the same. I've bought from people who have the odd negative or neutral on eBay, if you can see it's a clear one-off it wouldn't discourage me from buying. Mistakes happen, it's how you handle it that counts. I have seen sellers with one or two negative reviews that have responded aggressively and that is enough to put you off! In this case I've sent her a profusely apologetic message and offered to cancel and refund immediately. Now going to go through my selling pile and listings forensically so I don't find myself in this position again.

Ah, thanks @keepmeright ! I've messaged her with a profuse apology so I'll see what she says.

I think when the seller cancelled my order, I got a notification pretty quickly to say Vinted automatically left negative feedback. So it’ll probably show pretty soon after cancelling the order if they do that for you.

As a buyer seeing reviews about items not being as described or in poor condition puts me off much more, as at least if the seller cancels I know I’ll get my money back even if it is a bit disappointing at the time.
