sold a (go on guess!)mobile phone on ebay. Clearly stating no payments other than cheque and paypal, no bidders with less than 3 + feedback and only posting to Uk. Went to a bidder with 0 feedback at the last second. I was all for cancelling bid and sending second chance offer - DP (whose phone it was) didn't want to. So we didn't. Item was immediately marked as 'payment sent' when no payment via paypal or email came. Bit later on email from T smith who claimed that the phone was a present for - you guessed it again , his friend in Nigeria. Could we post it there for £50 P and P.
Email from paypal pops up - and yet in my other window I could see my paypal was empty which is what made me read the email carefully.The scam is that the payment is being 'held' by paypal until the item is dispatched to ensure 'buyer and seller safety'. Paypal don't do such a thing. Reported to ebay who have now de registered the arsehole. Please watch out!
